At FLBC, our mission in the Children’s Ministry is to spread a passion for the supremacy of God in all things so that the next generation may know and cherish Jesus Christ as the only One who saves and satisfies the desires of the heart. To that end, we aim to fuel spiritual desire in our children by offering God-centered, Bible-saturated, Christ-exalting curriculum in our Sunday School and Children’s Church classes each Sunday morning.
Sunday School, 9 a.m.
Toddler One through Sixth Grade
Man is not the key player in history; God is the engineer of all life, and His purposes are fulfilled throughout history. The Children Desiring God (CDG) curriculum purposefully presents God as the main character in each lesson, rather than dwelling on man and man’s needs. Therefore, each lesson focuses on the magnificent character of the One who can satisfy all our longings. Showing children the greatness of God gives them a basis to respond to Him. The CDG curriculum presents a great God who is worthy to be admired and imitated.
Children’s Church, Sundays, 10:30 a.m.
Age 3 through Fourth Grade
Children, ages 3 and up, join their parents after Sunday School each week for a rich time of celebrating the greatness of our God during our worship service from 10 to 10:30 a.m. At 10:30, the children, ages 3 to fourth grade, are then invited to go to their individual Children’s Church classrooms where they experience The Answers Bible Curriculum (ABC), a three-year program which covers the entire Bible in chronological order. In response to the startling findings of numerous studies, ABC is designed to stem the tide of skepticism toward God’s Word that begins in grade school. That skepticism turns to disbelief, and causes over two-thirds of young people to abandon church by the time they graduate. No other curriculum so thoroughly equips believers to defend the truth of the Bible.
Here are the ABC Key Concepts:
The Bible is trustworthy – We can trust ALL of God’s Word.
God’s Attributes – God’s attributes are displayed throughout the Bible.
Chronological/Historical Teaching – The Bible presents true history, not just “stories.”
The Bible’s Redemption – God’s plan of redemption is woven throughout scripture.
Apologetics – We must be ready to give an answer for what we believe.
Life Application – We are to live in the light of what the Bible teaches.
Extreme Team, Wednesdays, 6:30 p.m.
FLBC’s Extreme Team, a ministry designed for children, grades Pre-K through 6, is held on Life Group evenings (every other Wednesday night) beginning September 4, at 6:30 p.m. (Check our calendar here). Each evening begins with approximately 30 minutes of “large muscle” activities, a time for the children to exert energy, have fun and “get the wiggles out” before moving into the more structured teaching times that follow.
In 2019-2020 we will continue our journey through “The Torchlighters: Heroes of the Faith,” a 16-episode DVD collection highlighting true stories from Christian history, exemplifying courage and lives dedicated to Christ (i.e., Jim Elliot, Eric Liddell, Richard Wurmbrand, Corrie Ten Boom, etc.). These interactive lessons are designed to inspire the next generation of believers with stories and activities based on these heroes of the faith. Following that, we will begin “The Case for Christ: Kids Curriculum,” a 6-lesson apologetics study, packed full of well-researched, reliable, and fun investigations of some of the biggest spiritual questions kids have (i.e., the existence of miracles, ministry and resurrection of Christ). We will also engage in fun memory verse and Bible drill activities.
